-5C, Winter in Wonderland at Nepean Sportsplex, Benefit for the Ottawa Foodbank
i am getting tired now, we got up early like 7am on a snowy 5C sunday. we attended the pancake breakfast at nepean sportsflex, and the kids have fun. they have facepainting - kenny was a batman, cookie decorating- kenny and karlina got sugar loaded, and snowman making.... little miniature made of plastic styrofoam cups. we got home about noon, and i just keep going from there. got up to make some kraft dinner for lunch <<< oh what..and we got some rice and meat for dinner. laundry galore, and kids keep me busy. kenny studied french for test tomorrow...

1C - The Snow Melts
It was a cool Thursday today, clear at 1C. I should say, this weather is better than the 8C all day rain we have yesterday.
I manage to get out of the house around 11am, then stop at Rideau Center. I bought 4 sheets of bus tickets, worth $30. The we walked to Gilmour St. to pick up as toy train, but the owner was not home, so I left the money in her mailbox. I will have to come back and get it another time. Then I have Karlina walk with me holding the side of my stroller. I find it amazing that she hold on to the stroller as we walk along Elgin, I was expecting her to run around and get excited, but she is such a grown toddler with capacity to understand my simple instruction. She sings a lot, and waves to everybody. She is such a cute little girl.
We went back to Rideau Center for lunch, we have A & W meals. Rideau foodcourt is so busy at noon time, we barely get any seat.
Then we went to shop at GAP. Nothing really special...so I decided to buy mitts, one for Kieren and one for Karlina. They both get tired, so I called it a day. At 2pm, we boarded bus 97 Airport to go home.
I dropped by at Loblaws by South Keys mall to get some apples and grapes.
We arrived home at about 330 pm, and it give me time to change Karlina's diaper. Then I left Kieren with Rob to pick up Kenny.
Kenny comes home, we sit, we chat, we did homework. Rob and I finally manage to bring the old monitor to the garbage area. Then, Rob went to work.
I played pogo games, then clean up the kitchen and load some laundry. Ah, time to call it a day. Its 10:57 pm, and I will breastfeed Kieren, maybe play a game of pogo again...then its bedtime.

Winter 2010: First day of Freezing Rain in Ottawa City, ON, Canada
It was cold and chilly -3C today and first freezing rain for winter 2010. I thought bus for school will be cancelled, but that was not the case. I have to walk Kenny to the bus stop, and it felt really slippery. NOTE: buy salt in november next year, so I can salt my driveway, so no one slips.
Rob has to cancel his dentist appointment at 8am. He opened the door, and as his step the porch, he slip badly. Ah, no broken bones, but gave him enough caution not to continue.
I spend the day indoors, and I only took Karlina out when I pick up Kenny. The weather changed so fast that It was like 1degree C when i pick up Kenny.
So, its a normal cool night about 3C, and Rob stayed home for us. Its a good thing because I do not want to worry that he will slip again anytime soon.

Bell Satellite, Rob's Visits the Dentist and Its Snowing in Ottawa at 3C
We finally have Cable TV, Bell satelite was installed on our roof this morning. This should be interesting when the snow build up and we have no way of accessing our roof. I have to call Spiderman to do it for me. We discuss the option of installing the satellite by our fence, but it won't get signal because our home is a middle unit in the row houses.
After 12 years, I manage to convince my husband to see the dentist, my dentist. So far, its doing good and he is scheduled for cleaning on Dec. 1 & 2.
Its 0C here in Ottawa, and it is snowing. I just took out our garbage and its nice and fluffy snowy. Hello winter 2010!!!!!!!!!!

Because it is Rainy Thursday, and Snail Mail with Love
Its a rainy Wednesday here in Ottawa at 5C, and I went to my dentist this afternoon. Finally, that cavity is gone and my teeth was filled to last for awhile.
I have a busy day as usual, but before hitting the bed, I decided to send a small card to my sister An, and to my bestfriend Gevelyn. Days just pass by like crazy and I am hoping to at least end it somehow, remembering friends...and enjoy life, share the laugther.
Kieren is a very strong baby, at about 5 months, he started enjoying the Exersaucer. He can grasps objects at this time...almost 6 months, he has a very strong grip. I also notice he gets fuzzy now, and the first teeth is coming up.
Karlina is experiencing milestone: she now understand when she is in trouble. We let her sit on the stairs.
She also starting to form words, or at least understand it. Everything she wants is mommy. She is a light sleeper...she wakes up when Kieren cries, or Kieren also wakes up when she cries. She never like the toddler bed, so I decided to put the mattress on the floor, which works better. She sleep average 8 to 10 hours...but some days, she sleeps from 8pm till 4am. Imagine waking up at 4am, while I am still breastfeeding Kieren? Ughhh
Kenneth is in Grade 1, big adjustment for him from Kindergarten. He is still in play mode, and tends to play even if its time for school work. He is enjoying school, and learning French. I am proud of my son, and he finds the world so fascinating and I hope this life will treat him well.

Kieren : 4 months old
Kieren turned 4 months old and his neck is strong enough that I put him in the exersaucer. He enjoyed it, look around, and played with the toys. He is a healthy young boy, and in God's grace, never been sick. He had cold due to change of seasons, but other than that, he is very active and alert. He sleep very well, and feeds every 4 hours on breast milk.
Karlina at 20 months is very active. She is trying to form her own personality, easily frustrated, and climbs on anything. She likes to wave to everyone. She smiles a lot. She runs....chases her brother. She like to sit on my lap. She likes it when I brush her hair. She knows her gloves when it is cold. She climbs the stairs independently. She goes to the kitchen when she is hungry. She picks up her own plastic glass. She can drink from a glass without spilling. She eats yougort, cheese, rice, spaghetti, ham, eggs, apple, pears, oranges, & grapes. She nap once a day. She can climb out of her crib, so we are training her now to lay on her toddler bed. She can follow routine, she can do errands for mommy. She is happy to bring dirty diapers to the garbage can. She likes to play in the bath. She plays with Thomas the train and Percy, while bathing. She likes high fives, and she can say "love you" , "thank you". She loves to dance. I play on youtube few dance songs, and he does follow simple steps. She dance to MJ's, "they don't really care about us", Aqua's Tarzan and Jane and Barbie Girl, and Canadian Please. She is a busy little one, and she is interested in any electronics with buttons: cellphones, computers, telephones, remote controls. She rides on her little bus.
Kenneth is 6, and enjoying independence and school. He challenges authority and keeps asking a lot of questions. He seeks attention at home and school. He is healthy and he love playing outside. He like his Tonka bike and rides a lot. He is enjoying his current sport: Basketball with GRDO. He likes to be part of the crowd.
My husband, loving as ever........very hardworking, and tries to get a day off once in a while to play with the kids..
I am as usual surviving day by day and I hope I will get use to this someday, and I am still hoping to win the lottery.

And there is no rest for the Wicked!
"The days gone by very fast for me. Everyday is a struggle to serve three kids with their needs, at the same time, serving a husband without losing my sanity".
No rest, no day off, no hope until my youngest turn 4 years old. He is only 4 months old and I don't know if I can make it. I don't know if this marriage will keep me going, or the anger inside me keep me going and destroy whatever I have. I don't know if the love I have for my kids is strong enough, so I keep loving them, instead of being angry because I cannot cope up with their developmental needs. I don't know if I am spreading myself too thin, or I am just doing this because I think I can, but my body cannot really do it.

We move and there are boxes everywhere in our new home. But it is a home and we are loving it. The neighborhood is full of kids, about Kenny and Karlinas age, so they got instant playmate.
I like our backyard too, and the pool is just one step away. love it.

Kieren: 48 days old ~~ And the Rite of Passage for Kids~~
TUE 27 JULY 2010 - Kieren turns 48 days old.
Baby Kieren is very alert and he start to roll over to his belly. He has strong neck and also strong kick. He has a chubby check, :)))) and he feeds very well. He is purely breastfeed.
DAY 2 for packing up for our move to our new garden home. Uncle Ron came from Montreal to help us.
We spend the morning at Sawmill Creek Park and the afternoon at Trappers Park attending Kennys soccer practise. :))
Karlina like eating sand, or tasted it at some point... the rite of passage for every toddler.
As one mom says, "for the first born, we are about to go to CHEO. With the second one, we find it cute, take a video and upload it on youtube. "
Phew...welcome to Parenthood.
Kieren: 47 days old ~~ And the Stairs are Fun Again~~
MON 26 JULY 2010 - Kieren turns 47 days old.
Kieren is healthy and active boy. He has waking moments, about 11pm and 1am. He smiles a lot and he has a chubby check.
Karlina enjoys stairs. We visited Larry today, and she was down to the basement and up in the bedrooms. She has very good blance, and she can climb on the slides on her own. She is the one that moves a lot in the house.
Kenny is a testy little one, who ask a lot of whys. Very intuitive kid, and loves to dance and act. He went for swimming lessons today, and fearless on the slide and on the diving boards.
My kids are growing very fast.
Kiren: 46 days old ~~Sleep, Sleep and Shawarma~~
SUN 25 JULY 2010 Kieren turns 46 days old.
Kieren is all well and happy. I am now catching with sleep.
Karlina seem to have switched to sleep days and up nights. A night owl at 1 and 1/2 years old.
Kenny enjoyed Vacation Bible School. He graduated today, and he leared Genesis 1:1 " and God created the heaven and the earth". SOOOOOOo cute. !

Kieren: 44 Days Old ~~ And why does it have to rain on Friday? ~~
FRI 23 JULY 2010 - kieren turns 44 days old.
My sweet chubby check Kieren is so alert and he is getting the hang of rolling over. He can roll on his belly, but have a hard time getting to his back. Still, it is a very good movement that impress me. He has strong legs, and he can push like crazy. I did not know that climbing strength is influence by genetics!
Karlina dear is our little monkey. if you turn your back, she will climb on everything: parked strollers, table, computer chair, dressers.
Kenny: he is such an inquisitive active kid, i wish, i have more time to train him on the road. :)

Kieren: 43 Days Old ~~ So I found the Elusive Life Jacket~~
THU - 22 July 2010 - Kieren turns 43 days old.
KIEREN: My son seems to be awake more after feeding, and he seems to be awake at midnight, which is the time he was born. He must have totally develop a good lung now, because his cries and coos are louder.
I went out shopping today, for some goodies. Got some cat littler, and sunglasses for myself.
LIFE JACKET: yes, i found the elusive life jacket, the smallest one and there was only one left. It is almost impossible to find a life jacket that fits Karlina, she is 1 year and a half, and she likes to go in the pool with her older brother Kenny.
I found it, .............and it was so good that it fits her. She was walking around the house with it, so I cannot wait to take her to the pool tomorrow.

Kieren: 42 Days old ~~ Laundry Day~~
WED JUL 21, 2010 - Kieren turns 42 days old.
Kieren turns 42 days old and he seems to be a wiggly little guys. He would push back and he definitely is a mover for such a young fellow. He poops regularly, (yellow bunch) and still 100% breastfeed. He enjoys walks in the park and he seem to sleep very well when I am out walking.
KARLINA the EXPLORER: Karlina enjoys our big backyard and she enjoys the exploring phase. She would try to go over obstacles, and chase the ducks by the pond.
VBS: Kenny is joining a 3 day Vacation Bible School at the PMCC. It is a good thing for him, because he mingles with kids of his age.
And the laundry keeps piling up, so the laundry duty begins. :)
Kieren: 41 Days Old ~~ Bumps & Bumps Karlina~~
TUE 20 JULY 2010 - Kieren turns 41 days old.
It was a nice warm summer day, and Kieren is continuing to grow. He looks great on an "orange suit onesy". He also grow very nicely, he has now a double chin, and chubby check. He seem to love the cuddle time, and he constantly crave for hug time. Guess everyone needs that hugy time, but babies have more clear expression of need: "I will cry if you don't hug and cuddle me".
TANTRUMS: Karlina is a little terror, she climbs everywhere, and the tantrums started. She will be lying around and cry if she does not get what she want. Overall, she is developing a milestone, tantrums are normal for toddler. She also love the swimming pool and fearless.
SOCCER GAME: Kenny enjoyed the soccer games on TUESDAYS at Trappers Park by GRDO (www.grdo.ca) and we all go and watch him play.
Beside the field, Karlina enjoyed the play structure and she enjoys bumping in there. She climbs and slides on her own. Of course, she bumps and bumps...
maybe hurting her sometime, but its all for the fun!:)

Kieren: 40 Days old ~~Handsome Me~~
MON July 19, 2010 - Kieren turns 40 days old.
Kieren is very alert, and happy little one. He feeds, poops and smiles. He looks very handsome today, I also bath him today and I dress him up. I took pictures of him sitting by the nice chair.
Karlina enjoys her naps and continues to climb all the time. She does not sit still on her high chair, but excited to eat. She loves to sit beside daddy.
Kenny loves computer games, and he plays it with gusto. He seem to be this tech geek kid, and hope he keep it up.

Kieren: 39 Days Old ~~ Laundry oh Laundry~~
SUN July 18, 2010 Kieren turns 39 days old.
kieren starts to be more aware now, and he spend some few waking moments trying to roll side to side. He can see toys, and tries to reach for it.
He feed well, and still pukes come out of his nose most of the time. He is very healthy, despite his heat rash.
Karlina is at par with her developmental milestones. She climb on everything, and everything means....chairs, tables, strollers, trees outdoors. She is very funny and sometimes scary.
Kenny is still Kenny. At 5, he years for attention all the time. He likes to win all the time. He likes to boss around. He likes many things. He has limited attention span, and he jump from one game to another. He is a very helpful young man.
Today, house is busy. Daddy is out of commission, he can't move, his left leg is badly bruised still.
I did laundry after laundry, and our bedroom laundry is done. Just needed folding and kids laundry need to be done soon.
I ended my day.......tired, but happy. I have a small family, and we are here together. :)
kieren starts to be more aware now, and he spend some few waking moments trying to roll side to side. He can see toys, and tries to reach for it.
He feed well, and still pukes come out of his nose most of the time. He is very healthy, despite his heat rash.
Karlina is at par with her developmental milestones. She climb on everything, and everything means....chairs, tables, strollers, trees outdoors. She is very funny and sometimes scary.
Kenny is still Kenny. At 5, he years for attention all the time. He likes to win all the time. He likes to boss around. He likes many things. He has limited attention span, and he jump from one game to another. He is a very helpful young man.
Today, house is busy. Daddy is out of commission, he can't move, his left leg is badly bruised still.
I did laundry after laundry, and our bedroom laundry is done. Just needed folding and kids laundry need to be done soon.
I ended my day.......tired, but happy. I have a small family, and we are here together. :)

kieren and I have a good night sleep in the bedroom while daddy sleep in the couch.
in the morning, i took the kids out for play, because daddy stayed to clean and vaccum the house.
Nanny also come and visit us.:) accident happened and Kenny kick his daddy on his left leg and sent him to doctors.
Daddy came home with swollen left knee. It will take him a week or two to heal it. It was badly bruised, maybe sprained.

Kieren: 37 days old ~~ The Shopping Spree~~
fri 16th July 2010 - Kieren turns 37 days old.
Kieren and I sleep in our masters bedroom and have a good sleep.
Blowjob - that is my job, it is done today.
Shopping - i went shopping for the kids and the family. I bought white socks for daddy, pink top for mommy, bubbles & freezes for the kids, and Kieren's pacifier, which he never use yet.

THU 15 JULY 2010 - Kieren turns 36 days old.

WED 14 July 2010 - Kieren is 35 days old.
Kieren is alert, and we wake up late about 11am. He still has his heat rash, and some skin irritations, however he is doing very fine.
Its a nice weather and we took the kids out for some play in our backyard.
We came home for lunch, and I took Kenny out.
He enjoyed swimming in the pool, he was there for about 2 hours.

I also took Karlina for a short swim about 7pm, before Rob called us because Kieren is crying to be feed. It was a nice day for all of us.

Kieren: 34 Days old ~~ Two Become One~~
TUE 13 JULY 2010- kieren turned 34 days.
It is a rainy day, I took Kieren to the walk in clinic.
a. He has some heat rash
b. He has some skin irritation along the bum area, and Dr. Chadha prescribe him with a cream to apply to his sensitive skin.
Kieren have a bit low grade fever last night, so the check up was to follow up on that. He is sleeping well, and feed very often, that I think my milk runs out.
We also went to BMO, my husband added me to his account, so I can get coins for laundry, but also withdraw any money i need for us. TWO BECOME JOINT ACCT.
We stayed home for the afternoon, because of thundershowers forecast. We even stayed home for Kenny, and cancel his soccer game.

Kieren: 33 Days old ~~The Breast Pump Returns Home~~
MON - 12 JULY 2010 Kieren turns 33 days old.
Kieren is surviving the heat wave, we have air conditioner at home. But he has some little red pimples on his check. Nothing on his body and i always give him a sponge bath when needed.
Its a busy day. We go to BMP for laundry coins, and went to Produce depot for some apples, oranges, and watermelon.
At 3pm, I took Kenneth to his swimming while Karlina and Daddy stayed home to rest.
At 5pm, Lana Mathews came over to pick up the breastpump.

SAT July 10, 2010 - My son Kieren turns 31 days old.
He is very alert now. and he looks around, feeds well, sleep well. Thank God.

Kieren: 30 days old ~~ And He got his Birth Certificate~~
FRI- July 9, 2010 - Kieren turned 30 days old - one month.
Purolator delivered the packaged of Kieren birth certificate yesterday, but I miss it, so I ask James to drive me to Purolator at 3330 Hawthorne.
We drop by at Food Basics for chicken barbecue & coffee.
We have dinner; chicken and rice of course. Tom end up visiting us after his soccer practice.

Kieren: 29 Days Old ~~ Heatwave is still Here~~
THU, July 9, 2010 Kieren turns 29 days old.
The Heat Wave lingers.
I took them out at the big backyard, and it easily warms up. We stayed from 10am till 11am, then it was way too hot. And Karlina seems to follow the ducks down to the pond, as if she can swim.
Kenny asked me to play dart with him and then frisbee, and running around. I decided that it was time to come home.
At 2pm, Daddy signs our new lease to our new townhome. We finally set our moving date, which is July 29 THURSDAY.
Another load of laundry is done, just one load today. its so hot even at 9 pm.

Kieren: 28 days Old ~~ Staying Home: Heat Wave + Watermelon~~
WED July 7, 2010 - Kieren turns 28 days old.
Kieren is now looking very alert, and has grown up considerably. He seems to be more alert.

Kieren: 27 Days Old ~~The Light Show at Parliament Hill~~
TUE- July 6, 2010 - Kieren turns 27 days old.
I wake up late, and I decided to take the kids out. One double stroller and Kenny and off we go downtown.
We reached Rideau Center. We got cold drinks - Gatorade baby. I might be the worst mom out there, dowsing my kids with Gatorade. We also got some muffins and cinnamons at RichTree. We got frozen yougort, and went to Parliament Hill.
There was a "yoga at the parliament" and for some reason Kenny decided to follow their moves. Really hot, even if it was 6pm.
We went back to Rideau Center, and Rob joined us. We got Tim Hortons for dinner, and head back to Parliament Hill again for the Light Show. The Light Show did not start until 10pm, because it depends on darkness to work out.
The light show ended, it was really nice. Going home was a chore because we are competing against the returning crowd from Bluesfest. :)
We got home after midnight. :) what a day!

Kieren: 26 Days Old ~~ The Breast Pump Goes Home~~
MON July 5, 2010 - Kieren turns 26 days old.
The puke still come out of his nose...poor little guy. That must have hurt. He seems to have lots of gas too. It is a task to let him burp.
He needs to be on his belly to feel better. When he is on his back, he feels choked by his own vomit. So he has to be on his side or on his belly most of the time.
Kenny seems to sleep noons, so he miss his 3pm swim. Oh well, we will just bring him to a smaller pool in the backyard.
Since Karlina sleep in, we decided to stay in. We lounge at home and daddy cooked pizza for dinner. Karlina discovered our dining table, and behold she is sitting on top of it. :)
Speaking of the breast pump, I called in today to return it, but Lana won't be in till July 12th.
Bleeding: yes, I'm still bleeding. Still waiting for the day that my bleeding stops and I can actually jump in the swimming pool.

Kieren: 24 Days Old ~~ And He Went to Shawville~~
SAT July 3, 2010 Kieren turned 24 days old.
We have a sort of rough night last night, Karlina seems to be awake half the time and keeps her daddy awake. So as Kieren, he cannot seem to get comfortable, and those curious eyes were wide open.
Mom invited us over for the reunion of the Kelly clan, the family of mom's mother. It was nice, the kids enjoyed and great food.
The travel was another story. Kieren whined half way because he needs to feed. We need to stop at Arnprior to give him some breast milk. That's one disadvantage of breastfeeding, you can't just feed him while travelling unless you pump and feed him from a bottle. That was about 20-30 minutes feeding time.
We come home, exhausted, and full of happy memories. We took some pictures. Karlina danced to the live band, and we meet some family members. We don't know 80% of them, its like our great great grandmothers and grandfathers.........but it was all good.
Good food, you cannot say no to that. :)
And we went to bed, my husband and I spent like 2 minutes together, then Kieren whined for attention.
Bleeding: I am still bleeding and it is uncomfortable going to bed with sanitary pads.

Kieren: 23 Days Old ~~ Friday Lazy Friday~~
July 2, 2010 FRI - Kieren turned 23 days old.
I spend most of the day in bed, and I loaded one load of laundry in the afternoon.

July 1, 2010 THU - Kieren turned 22 days old.
It was nice day, and the weather is cooler, less than 30C.
We stayed home, and decided that we will visit the museum at 5pm. But getting 3 kids ready is close to impossible, so we came out late.
We end up in Dows Lake, so Karlina and Kenny can run around. Did not take long until Daddy was eaten alive by mosquitos. So we come home. We took the train both ways.
So, Happy Canada Day everyone.

Kieren: 21 Days old ~~ And Tita Belle Saves the Bell~~
June 30, 2010 WED - Kieren turned 21 days old.
Kieren turned 21 days old and he is very good baby. He eat, sleep, poop and eat again. And yes, he enjoys drinking breast milk, he is very good at that. He sort of vomit it, and some comes out of his nose.
Rob and I are in the middle of arguing about the breast pump, ah not really. Total disclosure i think, its like reading the fine print in every contract, which I don't do. Just read the basics, and its all the usual routine.
I just basically blurt out that I do not want to make decisions anymore. Life would be easier that way.
I got the 2 loads of half dried laundry courtesy of the black out last night. Oh well, life.
We confirmed that we gonna join the Kelly clan reunion on July 3rd at Shawville. I love events, but preparing for such is nightmare. Hope I do not get stress out.
Belle came over after lunch time, bringing some food. It was nice not to prepare anything. She is a kind of friend who can deal with Robs crazy antics.
We chit chat till afternoon, and it was good. Belle offered to take Kenny to Bible camp for July 21-23, and I said yes. Oh well, he better be off my case and enjoy some other kids.

We visit Dr. Chadha today to check on Kieren's jaundice. He is still a little bit of jaundice, but he is also growing well. All in all, he is in good health.
We have a visit from Tessie and she brought some noddles, mongo beans and fish. I am very happy to see some Filipino food. We let Kenny and Jessica play at Trappers Park, and Kenny played soccer at 4pm.
Blackout at 10 pm, Rob and I were trying to find candles in the dark, and my 2 loads of laundry was left in the middle of drying cycle.
It will be exciting to see wet laundry tomorrow.

Kieren: 19 Days Old ~~And Summer Begins~~
June 28, 2010 MON - Kieren is 19 days old.
Its lazy Monday, I sleep in till noon. Kieren is a good sleeper, and very quite kid.
Kenny has swimming at 3pm and it ended at 4pm. I let them play for 30 minutes at the Sawmill Park after swimming.
We came home and have supper. I went to Produce Depot for watermelon.
At night, I also went to Walmart to buy cola and juice.
I took a shower before I went to bed.

Kieren: 18 Days Old ~~And Megatron Rules the House~~
SUNDAY, June 27, 2010 - Kieren turned 18 days old
Lazy Sunday, the kids sleep in and so did I.
Kieren also finished the first pack of Pampers - box of 92 pieces.
He is feeding very well, and sleeping in between feedings. He is growing right before my very own eyes.
At 2pm, we decided to go to Walmart to pick up some Cat Litter, and some groceries. And of course, Kenny got to pick up one toy. It took him so long, more than 30 minutes to decide which toy to pick. And the big, noisy Megatron from Transformers comes home with us.
Within that 30 minutes, Karlina starts fusing that I need to open a bottle of Gatorade for her. Kieren starts fussing too, so I end up breastfeeding in the middle of electronics section.
We come home, all happy, all in complete pieces. Daddy cooked dinner for us, and we decided to come out for a play in our big backyard.
Karlina tried a tricycle, courtesy of our neighbor at 2710 Saratoga and enjoyed it, until she falls off because she was so tired. We all enjoyed the outdoors, and daddy carried Karlina home.
It was a very nice day and I am happy. :)

Kieren: 17 Days Old ~ Mommy got a New Haircut~
June 26, 2010 SAT, Kieren turned 17 days old.
The day started with rain, and it was not so good. The playtime in the backyard got delayed.
Auntie Tracy and Uncle Roy drop off some items for Kieren. Nathan, Tracys son is now 3 months old, so they have way too much stuff. We played in the backyard too.
Nanny Karen drop off the new car seat, but we never got to see her, because we were in the backyard.
Karlina seems to be super sensitive, and she got red rashes in her diaper area. We tried lots of Vaseline and Corn Starch. I hope it works.
Mommy got a new hair-cut: the undercut style circa 1990s. It's convinient because i have a super thick hair that will take more than 30 minutes drying. Well, easy dry, easy to manage. My hubby help me fix the haircut. I am happy.
Bleeding: i am still bleeding lightly. oh well.
Feeding: Kieren feeds regularly and is a very happy boy.
The day started with rain, and it was not so good. The playtime in the backyard got delayed.

Kieren: 16 Days Old ~~ Uncle Ron and Patrick Visits Moi~~
Friday: June 25, 2010 Kieren is 16 days old
Today, Kieren turned 16 days old. He feeds very well and regular bowel and urine. He is very good boy, he feeds, sleep and very content.
I did some grocery today, Kenny came with me and we got a big watermelon. We stop by at the park to feed Kieren and Karlina went for a stroll, and chase the gulls.
Ron and Patrick arrived after lunch, and I was able to load one laundry.
They ordered pizza for dinner and treat us.
We all came to see Kenny play soccer, Patrick was our official driver.
We have a fun family day, Ron and Patrick came to watch Kenny play soccer with the Gloucester Dragons.
Very fun day and we all came out and enjoy the nice weather.

Kieren: 15 Days Old ~~Kenny's Last Day of School~~
June 24, 2010 - Kieren is 15 days old (THUR) St. John The Baptist Day
This morning, I washed Kieren's full head of hair and his belly button. He is such a growing boy.
I am still bleeding lightly and I feel very tired. I seem to feel down and just wanting to sleep all day. I really wanted a hair cut and it seems I cannot seem to get the right timing.
We cancelled Kennys swimming because Ron is coming, but he postponed it for tomorrow.
It's 10 pm and I guess I should call it a day.

Kieren: 14 Days old ~~ The Big Backyard Picnic~~
June 23, 2010 WED - Kieren is 14 days old.
We went to see Dr. Chadha today for Kierens two week visit. He weight 3440 grams. He is still a little jaundice, so we have to come back on Tuesday to check it out.
We were so hungry that we got Harveys burger for lunch. We have a big backyard picnic under the sun. The weather is very nice, and Karlina enjoyed chasing the gulls (seagulls) i think.
We stayed home after, and Rob pick up Kenny from Sawmill Creek.
It is a quite night and staying home, laid back and played computer games.
Kieren is happy breastfeed.
My sore neck is still there, but its getting better now.
Karlina eats lots of blueberries, cheese and crackers.
I eat a lot mostly greens...boston lettuce, cheese, berries.
We also ate corn in a cob, looks like its corn season again. :)

Kieren: 13 Days ~~ A Trip to Ottawa International Airport~~
June 22, 2010 Tuesday: Kieren turned 13 days old today.
It is a nice day, so I took Kenny to his bus stop with Kieren and Karlina on the double stroller.
We come home, and get ready to come with Daddy at the airport. Daddy have to hand in his forms for paternity leave. It was fun day.
Karlina poured water on herself, so we end up buying a new outfit for her: Ottawa Senators dress. We bus home.
Daddy cooked some dinner, and he also came out to pick up Kenny while mommy folds the laundry from yesterday.
I loaded 2 loads of laundry again, because laundry will be close for cleaning tomorrow.
I also enrolled Kenneth to summer programs: soccer (Tuesdays) and swimming (Mondays).
Karlina woke up at about 9pm, and i played with her till 11 pm. She decided to call it a night at about 11pm. I hope she will sleep through the night.
Rob sleep at 9pm, so hope he gets well rested. He sleep very little today.

It was a nice day, so I took Kieren and Karlina out. First, we shop for fresh fruits at Produce Depot and then we played at the dock pond. Karlina enjoyed exploring; she tried touching the prickly pine leaves and gathered pine cones, and she also chased the seagulls lingering around the dock pond.
I have 2 loads of kids laundry going and Rob picked up the dry ones.
We came home, and we cooked the corn in a cob. Karlina also fall for her afternoon nap.
At 5pm, I took Kieren with me to Sawmill Creek in order to pick up Kenny. I brought some corn for Kenny's dinner and let him have some time to play at the Sawmill Creek Park.
I was sitting under the shade with Kieren while Kenny enjoyed playingon the big slide. About 7pm, we head home, and Kenny has his shower.
Bleeding: At 12 days after deliver, I am still bleeding lightly.

Kieren: 11 days old ~~ Fathers Day 2010~~
June 20, 2010 Sunday
Happy Fathers Day to all the dads and grandads.
We have a rough night, Karlina seems to be pretty up allnighter.
We were invited from brunch at Dad and Sher and that was good. I have the luxury of really just sitting down and chatting for a bit.
Rob has great milestone: 3 of them actually.
1. Kieren responded to his voice and turned his head towards daddy.
2. Karlina learned to understand little bit of words: When daddy said, " Karlina, please come give daddy a kiss". She come running to daddy and give him a kiss.
3. Kenny learning the importance of holidays like this: greeted his dad, a Happy Fathers Day.
I gave Rob a card, have not shop really.
We brought our gifts for VJ, and Dads birthday. It was fun. Thanks to Sher who saved the day.
We come home, all tired and went to sleep. :)

Kieren: 10 days old ~~Umbilical Cord Has Fallen~~
June 19, 2010 Saturday
Kieren turned 10 days old today. His umbilical cord has falled off.
I also bought a new double stroller today. It is a Graco Quattro Tour 2 Duo, in French Roast. Very nice stroller actually, lots of rave and reviews. I like the fact that the new baby can totally lie flat on the first seat, while Karlina has a five point harness on the front. My little princess seems to wiggle all the time and I am afraid she will fall flat on her face one day. So this lovely stroller will probably keep her safe.

It cost about $299 plus tax at Babies R Us. The front cup holders can also be replace with a car seat adopter, so you can put two car seats when you have twins.
The car seat for this model are Graco's Snugride or Safeseat. The car seats just locked into the cup holders of the first seat.
The storage compartment has this amazing feature where you can pull it down, in order for you to easily grab your stash, even when baby seat is fully reclined.
This strollers has probably the most cupholders that i've known. There is two on the handle bars, two on the baby seat, and two on the toddler seat; that's 6 cup holders in one stroller.
My coffee, my gatorade...LOL. It also has a zippered pouch for shaped for my sunglasses. Pretty Neat!
Geez, this stroller is much for me, not just for the kids.
We also have a visit from the moving company for a qoute. It is 85/hr to move us, with 2 person moving and 3rd is driver/assistant. We were told that it may take us 4 to 5 hours to do the move, and we signed in. Might as well, so one thing is done!
Today, Tessie is hosting a party for Jessica, but it rained on us, so we stayed home.
Rob finally sleep long enough today about 9 hours. Hope his Fathers Day tomorrow will be nice!:)

Kieren: 9 days old ..... and the Stress of the New Parents

Kieren turned 9 days old today. Last night, he rolled over twice, probably because he is a small baby and easy to roll.
We also had a visit with the Ottawa Public Health Nurse to check on us and our new baby. Her name is Suzanne.
She checked me for signs of post partum depression and I answered a questionaire. Rob mentioned that they should also check for the fathers because they undergo changes as well.
These are the changes that fathers tackle as the mother gave birth to a new baby: no sex for six (6) weeks, constant crying of the baby, sleeplessness, taking care of the household, and taking care of older siblings?
How many men easily adopt to new routine?
Can anyone cope with these changes without depression?
She checked our baby's general well being: my feeding skills, she actually looked at how Kieren is latching on my breast. Good thing that Kieren made a perfect show and we pass with flying colors.
She checked Kieren's weight and we found out that is back to his wieght at birth 3030 grams. She also have his discharge weight from QCH which is 2815 grams.
She discuss on SIDS: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, and mentioned that smoking is a factor in SIDS. It did not sit well on Rob who is a smoker, but well, I guess she is just doing a checklist.
She also checked on home safety, and she notice that we get an F. Kieren was sleeping on the soft diaper change pad on top of a playpen with lots of pillows to elevate him. I can't really bend well, because my uterus is still contracting, so he has to be elevated somehow.
Tell me, how many newborn babies actually sleep on their crib? Most mothers I know of, the baby normally sleep in bed with them, and of course, it is not safe again in the name of SIDS.
In China, where population is the highest, where does baby sleep?
Well, in general, the nurse actually are very helpful with our questions and we really appreciate that.
But also, how many parents feel that "we are being judge with our parenting skills on our very vulnerable moment?"
Imagine just few days out of the hospital still bleeding, and being questioned, and taught things about babies and mother?
Do you feel intimidated?
Do you think anything get through my head?
Many mom's survive on auto pilot on the first few weeks. Instinct. And I hope they base their reports on these factors, not just what is seen there. If a messy house is indicative of parenting skills, I already failed.
At the end of the day, I decided to buy a bassinet for Kieren to sleep. I was happy that the seller agreed to deliver it to me, and now I am using it.

Kieren: 8 Days old

Kieren is 8 days old.
We have a good night rest, Karlina sleeps nights.
The weather is nice too.
Daddy took Kenny to swimming lesson. Kenny gets easily excited, and he things everything is play. Well, I hope he improves.
Kenny went to school at 1pm, and went to afterschool at Sawmill Creek.
I pick up Kenny and we have supper. Oh, today I manage to cook chicken and mash potato. My husband said he liked the chicken. Wow! I must have improved my hit and miss cooking style.
He went to bed after eating and so as Kieren, so I took Kenny and Karlina to play ball at the backyard. We came home about 8pm, Karlina took a bath, and Kenny on his routine.
It was a pleasant day, sure pass by quick but fun memories. Kieren starts smilling when I talk to him. He opens his cute eyes too.

Kieren turned 7 days old today, and he is such a strong boy. He can push back himself, and he moves a lot. He feeds regularly between 2 to 3 hours interval.
He also have his first doctors appointment today. He gained his birthweight to my delight, and he is very healthy. We went to Dr. Chadha at Southbank Medical, because he is also Kenneth and Karlina's doctor. We were given sample of D Visol, because he needed Vitamin D as I am breastfeeding him.
Karlina also has her 15 month Vaccine shot. It was administered in both arms and poor girl cried. And the next vaccine will be at 18 months.
It was a rainy day, so we got home and soaking wet about 3pm.
We spend the rest of the day indoors because we just get exhausted over the walk to the doctors.

Kieren: 6 Days Old
Kieren is 6 days old.
Today was another day at home. I wake up about 8am, and I have severe pain, like a labor pain in the maternity. I still have my Tylenol and Advil medication from the hospital and I took it and it helps. I tend to overlook these medications when I get home because its a busy schedule between feeding and trying to get some sleep.
Kieren regularly feeds in 2-3 hours interval. My breast was so engorge, (too much milk supply) that it is very painful and hard. Last Sunday, I rented a breast pump from a Lactation Consultant to empty the excess milk. I also did hot shower to release the milk, and cold cabbage to ease the swelling. Today, it is allmost alright, but still rock solid.
I walked Kenneth to his bus stop at 12:45 noon, and came home. Rob's mom visited us with lots of food, which really help because I am not capable of cooking yet.
We picked up Kenneth at Sawmill Creek afterschool program at 6pm, and we have a happy picnic at the park. Kenneth and Karlina enjoyed it very much and run around the whole time. Karlina can be handful, because she climb fearlessly on any structure. We enjoyed the day....and so as Kieren. I manage to use the double stroller. It was a great day!

My son Kieren arrived earlier than the expected 4th of July. He decided to come out on 9th of June, which makes him premature at 36 weeks. However, in Gods grace, he is very healthy and we came home after 3 days in the hospital.

Amazing Tuesday! Amazing June!
Karlina woke up at 3 am, and was running around the house by 6am to my husbands disappointment. He worked overnight and was hoping to have a little bit of down time, before going to bed, but it seems to be not the case.
He was happy with the case of beer delivered last night.
Karlina is over her ear infection, and the last dose of amoxicilyn was last Sunday, May 30, 2010.
Weather is mild, very moderate and nice to go out, but it rained, so we stayed in. Karlina went back to bed at about 9am, so I went to bed too. We got up at about 1pm, just in time to get ready for Kenny;s CHEO dental appointment. Sher gave us a drive, so we are very grateful, and she had us over for supper...home made pizza yummy.
The appointment went well, the dental assistant was so nice to us, and Kenny dental surgery healed properly. There is another work that needs to be done, 2 teeth needs fill, and which is scheduled on June 15,2010 at 8:45am.
This makes my day, my son's teeth is finally fixed.
Yesterday, Monday 31 May, we looked at the townhome at 2634 SouthDown, and we liked it. We are set to move to a new garden home on August 1, 2010.
We are all excited to have a backyard and have a basement as the kids playroom.
Today Rob's work schedule with Commissionaires is from 6pm to 6am tomorrow.

Interesting Wednesday ( May 26, 2010) 40C Humidex in Ottawa
I had an interesting Wednesday. I had an ultrasound at 10:30 am, and the temperature rises, and it gets to me; coughing and cold as a result.
Our apartment did not have any air conditioning, so it hit me bad. Mom and Kieth went out to get us new air conditioner and a tower fan, and installed it for us. I was very weak, considering 8 month pregnant.
Mom invited us to sleep over at her place to cool down, and it worked well. We left the air conditioner running in our apartment to cool down the place. We have a good night sleep, but my coughing and cold stayed.
On Thursday noon, I have a doctors appointment and Mom just drop us off home. She has to go and visit grandpa Emile.
Wednesday was very hot...........and challenging. I grew up in a very warm place, but that temperature really weaken me. It was a very new experience.

Karlina at 1 year and 3 months: LEFT EAR INFECTION
Karlina is now 1 year and 3 months and she got an ear infection in her left ear.
She was high on temp about 101F and it freaks me out. Alternate on Advil and Tylenol to control her temp, plus wet cloth on her forehead.
It started on Thursday May 20, 2010 and her temperature was unusually high, and i thought it was summer heat, so its just bath for her. Friday, the high temperature persisted, plus coughing and runny nose. And she got this runny poop once that stink like you never believe it. Thought i smelled the worst already, but this one was atomic bomb. Friday night was crazy, she won't calm down and i have to carry her all the time, and temperature spiked high again.
Saturday: May 22, 2010 I asked Rob to take time off work so we can take Karlina to the doctor. We waited for the walk in clinic for one hour and she got an infection in the left ear.
She got a prescription, Amoxicilyn for seven (7) days starting today, 3 times in a day. She is fuzzy and she did not eat her fruits today. She loves her grapes, banana or cantaloupe. Today, she seem to munch on Goldfish, cough and spit it out again.
I hope she feels better tomorrow, because I am getting tired too.

May 10, 2010. (MONDAY) Rob's 32nd Birthday
We wake up nice, and sing happy birthday to Rob. We got him a cake a day before, and Kenny told him about it, so yeah...kinda the surprise is spoiled. Of course, Kenny did it because he was so proud that he got to pick Daddys birthday cake.
We got pancakes, fruit trays, and cake in the breakfast table. It was a nice day, kids are healthy running around the house and Rob was home.
Jack came by in the afternoon, and we got beer delivered to our home, at my convinience.
For dinner, we have Mom, Kieth, Auntie Sharron and we got pizza from Hungry Sammy's. It was delicious and the price was alright.
Kenny and Karlina enjoyed playing with Auntie and Mom running around the house. It helps me a lot because it tires them, to get ready to bed.
We got Dave over for a visit too, and it was nice to end the day with Rob happy and smiling. Must be the beer!

Mothers Day 2010
Mothers Day 2010. I am very happy today, my family is growing and I have a very loving husband.
I got a dozen roses, and a beautiful card from Rob. I took the kids to church at St. Josephs and have lunch at Billings Bridge. Kenny loves the Yakisoba noddles, it took him an hour to finish the bowl.
Rob took us out for dinner at KS at South Keys. Kenny have Junior burger, I got lemon-herb salmon and Rob had lasagna. I like my salmon, it was so fresh. I like the cheesecake, it's real cheesecake. KS also gave us a single beautiful rose for Mom's on Mothers Day. For the price we paid for our meal, it was really great.
I look forward to more Mothers Day to come. We meet Ron and Dotty, VJ's godparents.

Karlina: More Walking, less crawling
January 28, 2010
Karlina will turn one year old next month, and she is walking now. She relies on her balance now, and she is so funny, when she tries to raise her hand up when she need to balance herself.
Today, we went out of our door and she push the little truck (a yellow school bus) up and down the hall.
Its amazing how she enjoyed it for couple of times.
Diet wise: she can eat one banana in one setting.

she eats the Gerber Toddles Graduate: peach, banana, strawberry
She loves to eat rice!

Karlina - First Step and Walking 11 months
Karlina took the first step on December 26, 2009, Tuesday. She was standing by the kitchen, holding on the garbage can. She was about to open the garbage can when Rob told her "no" and she started to cry. She let go of the garbage can and took two steps towards me, standing by the refrigerator.
Since then, her balance improve overtime. At 11 months, she would lean her back on the couch and started to clap while watching TV.
She also starts to dance when she hears dance tunes.
She loves to chew on our cellphones.
She chases the cats around the house.
She rides the vacuum.
She loves to eat fruits like melon, oranges, strawberry, grapes.
She loves to eat grapefruit, even if she makes the sour - ish face.
